Pay rate
There are two main types of transcription, general transcription and
technical. If you wish to transcribe technical or specialize in medical/law transcription your pay rate increases. The same usually applies if you're transcribing difficult audio (very poor audio, heavy accents).
However, pay rate varies a lot depending on whether you work as a part of a team or alone, and whether you're full employed. If you're working alone your pay rate usually ranges between $0,50 to $1,00 per audio minute, thus $30 to $60 per audio hour.
If you're a freelancer working as a part of a team, pay rate usually ranges (approximately) between $0,10 to $1,00. Some companies offer editing AI filles, such as QA World, or getting paid to complete HITs (small and easy Human Intelligence Tasks), such as with Amazon's Mechanical Turk and CrowdSurf.
