Casting Words - Transcription jobs review

 What is Casting Words?

Casting Words (CW) is a transcription company in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

How does it work?

Once accepted to work on the platform, go to the availably jobs tab and pick the job that you like. There are four types of work:

  • Transcribing audio files.
  • Editing.
  • Grading and giving feedback to CW transcribers.
  • Improving a transcript with a low grade.
As with any transcription job, you should read very carefully the company's guidelines and pay attention to the customer's notes. For example, if the transcript is non-verbatim you should remove filler words and false starts.

Filler words are words (or non words, such as "uh")  people are using to "fill in" empty spaces in the speech. In other words, fillers don't contribute to the meaning of the sentence. You could remove them without losing content. Some of the most commonly used fillers are "kind of", "really", "you know" and "so".

The same applies to false starts as they don't contribute to the meaning of the sentence. Therefore, "I need...I need to...go out" should be "I need to go out".

Pay rate

The pay rate increases if your transcript follows the guidelines and is accurate. The more accurate it is, the more you can earn!

 Also, some jobs offer bonuses!
